Jim was born on September 19, 1940 in Davenport, son of Ono Polk Sala Levsen and Mary Josephine (Schroeder) Levsen. He was united in marriage to Sandra Beste on June 17, 1961.
Jim was ornery, quiet, strong and proud. He was an all around good man, father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked at Alcoa for over 36 years and still had coffee with his colleagues multiple times a week. He loved his vegetable garden and was a very hard worker. He could often be found tinkering in his workshop making bird houses. He enjoyed old western movies, camping, fishing and Stephen King novels. He was a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan and also enjoyed car rides and frequenting the casino. Jim and his wife made many memories over the years on their coast to coast road trips with the family and even made it to Mexico. Above all he loved his family and cherished the time spent together, especially at family gatherings. He will be deeply missed.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Sandy; children Mark (Theresa) Levsen, Joe Levsen and Rhonda (David) Wilkinson; grandchildren Anthony (Tiffani) Levsen, Rachel (Austin) Flecker, Christopher (Samantha) Wilkinson and Brittany (Dalton) Stout; great grandchildren Lana and Abel Flecker and Cali and Keira Wilkinson; and sister Maryanne Gunzenhauser.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Robert and Thomas Levsen.
