James Wilcox Inmon, 75, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on July 18, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Medical Center, with his beloved wife by his side.

Born on August 12, 1950, in Denver, Colorado, James was the son of Thomas Inmon and Jean Wilcox. James graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio & TV Sound Engineering.

He spent his early career as a sound engineer, working with Frank Zappa, managing sound production for the Dallas Symphony, and collaborating on an album with Bobby Bridger. James later transitioned into entrepreneurship, founding and operating TX Inspection Service for 35 years until his retirement.

In 2001, James married Delvia McDannell in Austin, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. James will be remembered by those who knew him as a man of immense talent, a sharp wit, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

He is survived by his wife, Delvia; his sons, Jesse Inmon and Jason (Kelly) Inmon; and six grandchildren, Samantha, Austin, Hayden, Kylie, and Taylor. He is also survived by his siblings, Jeanie (Ron) Miller and John (Kay) Inmon, alongside many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Jean.
