Memorial services to celebrate the life of James F. Hayek, 89, a longtime resident of Davenport, will be Monday, January 15, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. Jim passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Ligonier Bethlen Home Nursing Center, Ligonier, PA. Honoring his wishes the rite of cremation has been accorded and his family will greet friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Graveside military honors will take place at the National Cemetery Rock Island Arsenal where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Shirley (Huggins) Hayek. She preceded him in death in 1988. A luncheon to continue the celebration of Jim’s life will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Knights of Columbus, 1111 West 35th Street, Davenport, friends and relatives are invited to attend.

James Frank Hayek was born May 16, 1928 in Davenport a son of Frank and Elsie (Koranda) Hayek. Jim proudly served our country in the United States Navy, stationed in San Diego, California. He retired as a union brick mason. While living in Latrobe, he enjoyed working for Latrobe Parks and Recreation.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children and their spouses; James E. and Eunice Hayek, Joelyn and William Aukerman, Joan and Jeff Curtis; a daughter in-law Connie Hayek; his grandchildren; Andrew and Michelle Hayek, Erin and Scot Gehret, and Erik Hayek, Brody, Marc, and William Aukerman, Lucas, Jamie and Jennie Curtis; great grandchildren; Wyatt and Isabella Hayek, Mason Gersdorf, and Sawyer Gehret.

Preceding him in death are his wife, daughter Julie Hayek, and a son Jeffrey Hayek. May they rest in peace.
