Jacqueline M. “Jacque” Crouch, 87, of Davenport, died Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, surrounded by the love of her family.
Jacque was born on October 10, 1937, in Davenport, daughter of John A. and Alberta (Atkinson) Martin. She lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and quiet strength. As a young woman, Jacque was a gifted ballet dancer whose grace and discipline reflected her spirit. Though her dancing days passed, her love of music, movement, and beauty never faded, and she carried that sense of poise and joy through every chapter of her life.
Jacque graduated from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in 1958. She was united in marriage to Donald Crouch on August 5, 1961, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1999, following 38 years of marriage.
Jacque worked as a surgical nurse at Mercy Hospital and later for Drs. Kuhl and Donahue before starting a family. Once her children were school age, she became a school nurse in the Davenport Community School District until her retirement in 1993.
Following retirement, Jacque continued to give back to the community through her volunteer work. She enjoyed working in her yard and reading, but above all, she cherished her family and friends and loved her grandchildren deeply. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and enjoyed monthly gatherings with her grade school and high school friends.
She is survived by her children: Brian Crouch (Robin Swartwood), Holly Springs, North Carolina, and Stacy May (David Watts), Austin, Texas; grandchildren: Blake Crouch (Billie Shilling), Luke (Chelsea) Crouch, Victoria May, and Aidan May; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald (Diane) Martin, Davenport.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Julie Crouch, and her parents. May they rest in peace.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the gathering space at the cathedral. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, 2546 Tech Drive, Bettendorf, IA, 52722, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (https://www.stjude.org).
