Jace Michael Geissinger, 19, of McCausland, passed away far too soon on Sunday, September 27, 2026, due to a tragic car accident.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jace’s life. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. An additional hour of visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In true honor of Jace’s absolute favorite time of year, guests are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume to the Friday service.
Jace was born on April 4, 2007, in San Diego, California, to Ashley Jones and Robert Geissinger. From the very beginning, Jace faced the world with an extraordinary spirit. Born with level 3 autism, sensory issues, speech, auditory, and learning difficulties, Jace led a hard life. Yet, he refused to let those challenges define him. He was a young man of profound resilience, tenacity, and empathy. Driven by a deep desire to understand the universe, Jace was determined to learn about everything in front of him—the world around him, science, space, rocks, and every person he interacted with. His ability to prevail against the odds inspired everyone who knew him.
His determination was evident in his achievements. Jace was a proud dual high school graduate of Edison Academy and North Scott High School, Class of 2025. He had bright plans for the future, intending to study general business at Black Hawk College to complete his general education before transferring to a university to pursue his passion for botany. Jace loved life, loved planting things, and had an entrepreneurial spirit, even starting his own unique clothing line called "Mr. Toxic."
If there was one thing everyone knew about Jace, it was his lifelong obsession with Halloween. From childhood, he poured his creativity into the holiday, making a point of handcrafting his own detailed costumes every year. This passion came alive beautifully in his work. While he worked at Chili's—where he truly loved his work and his dedicated coworkers—Jace absolutely lived for the one month a year he got to work at Skellington Manor. He even took acting classes specifically to perfect his role and become the best haunted house performer he could be.
Jace adored animals, and they were a massive part of his world. He is now peacefully reunited with his beloved husky, Kodiak. He leaves behind a beautiful menagerie of creatures who brought him endless joy, including his two dogs and best friends, Bear and Von; his five lizards; his Maine Coon cat, Sybil; a snapping alligator turtle; and a betta fish. Whether he was caring for his pets or watching his favorite movie, How to Train Your Dragon, Jace found magic in the world around him.
Those left to honor his memory include his father, Robert (Angela) Geissinger; his mother, Ashleigh Jones (Joel Edwards); his siblings, Charlotte and Wesley Geissinger, Audrie and Avie Bowes, Joel "LJ" Edwards Jr., and Landen King; his grandparents, Scott (Susan) Geissinger, Lisa Jones, and Jerry (Amy) Jones; and his great-grandparents, Paula Mize and John (Betty) Tharpe; as well as many extended family members, his girlfriend, friends, and coworkers.
