Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Inocencio “Chencho” Loya, 70, of Davenport, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. Cremation has been accorded and burial will take place a later date in Mexico. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Mr. Loya passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.
Inocencio Loya was born June 22, 1956, in Rancho Las Moras, Mexico, to Lauro Dolores Loya and Soledad Prieto Villa Lobos. He came to the United States when he was 14 years old. He was united in marriage to Donaciana “Donna” Ruiz in 1987 in Davenport.
Chencho worked hard to support his family and was a self-taught mechanic. Prior to his retirement he worked for the Canadian Pacific Railroad. He stayed active in his “retirement” as a mechanic working on cars.
He was a multi-instrumentalist and could play the guitar, harmonica, and accordion. He loved the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughters Laura Loya, Crystal (Lupe) Jimenez all of Davenport, Maria (Wes) Baskovic of Silvis; sons Martin and Rafa Magdaleno of Davenport; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister Paula Prieto; and brothers Lauro, Santiago, Dolores, and Jose Loya.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Manuel Loya.
