Henry “Bud” Huney Jr, age 82, of Blue Grass, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. A memorial mass will be held at 12:00 noon, on July 12, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
Bud was born on March 29, 1941, in Minneapolis, MN, to Henry and Isabel (McGonagle) Huney Sr. He graduated from the Minnesota School of Business prior to moving to Davenport in 1963, where he began his 44 year career as a court reporter. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966, serving with the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam. Bud was united in marriage to Judy Vaccaro in March of 1975 in Davenport, and their daughter Jennifer, was born in 1976. Bud formed his freelance business, Huney & Associates in 1978, and retired in 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; 2 daughters, Jennifer Bock and Charlene (Shelby) Harris; step-children, Annette Horvath, and Angela (Michael) Logan; grandchildren, Lucas (Emma) Dengler, Alex Bock, Nick Bock, Ryan Logan, Lauren Logan, Caleb Horvath, Jordan Horvath, Heather (Jeremy) Wright, and Samantha (Jonathan) Ceballos; 4 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Barbara Conroy, Kathie (Robert) Firek, William (Patricia) Huney, and special friends Richard Ragan and David Tillotson.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Isabel, sisters, Betty Ferrian and Beverly Conroy; brother, George Huney; son-in-law, Frank Horvath; step-son, John Graham; brother-in-law, James Conroy; and nephew, Tom Conroy.
