Davenport

Helen Louise Willyard, 85, of Davenport, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Harmony Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service at church. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Helen was born on October 9, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa, a daughter of Harry and Margaret (Schaffer) Bergert. She graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1958. She married Ike Kahler in 1960 and had three wonderful children. They later divorced. Helen later married Joseph Willyard in 1979 until his passing in 2003. Together, they owned and operated Willyard Trucking, which relocated them to Georgia in 1985.

She was a very hard worker. She enjoyed driving her own tractor-trailer and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Helen and Joe traveled quite often. While on the road, she was part of the Truckstop ministry. She loved traveling so much that she visited all 50 states, an accomplishment she was very proud of. Of all the things she was proud of, being a grandma took first place. She loved her grandchildren more than anything.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Jeffrey (Susan) Kahler, Jon C. Kahler, Julie Kahler, and grandchildren, Emmie Kahler, Zion Kahler, and KaDe Kahler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her parents, a granddaughter, Sara Kahler; niece, Christie Bergert, and siblings, Harry, Harvey, and Alice.
