Helen Lucille LaMar was born on November 1, 1945 in Davenport, a daughter of William and Daisy (Parris) LaMar.  She was united in marriage to Michael J. Guldner on October 14, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Davenport.  They have shared over 51 years of marriage and memories together.

Prior to devoting her life to her husband and future children, Helen assisted in every position at the family business, LaMar Shade & Venetian Blind Company.

Helen was devoted to her Catholic faith, and being a wife, mom, and grandma.  She loved to share “Helenisms” and could make light of any bad situation usually with laughter and music.  Helen never missed an activity of her kids or grandchildren and loved supporting her Iowa Hawkeyes. In earlier days she enjoyed bowling in couples league on Saturday nights and spending weekends at their family cabin on the Wapsi River. She loved all of her dogs throughout her life:  Duke, Jinx, Yeller, Missie, Eva and Millie.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Michael, Davenport, children and their spouses: Heather (James) McIntyre, Davenport, Michael (Tiffany) Guldner, Grand Mound, and Hollie (Ian) Ewers, Davenport; grandchildren: Nicholas, Haley, Kennedi, Kale, Audriana, Quinlyn, Estelle, and Sloane; sisters: Julie Leibold, Davenport, Carol Beardsley, Davenport, Linda (Jim) Dockery, Bettendorf, and Beth Pippert, Rock Island; brother, Tom (Carolyn) LaMar, Davenport; brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law: Kurt (Joanell) Guldner, Aledo, Roberta (Steve) Murphey, Bettendorf, and Roxanne Dankert, Davenport and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Patricia LaMar and Mary Naab, brothers: William, Martin, Robert, and Denny LaMar, and brothers-in-law: Curt Leibold, Jack Beardsley, John Pippert, Pat Naab, Randy Dankert, and a sister-in-law, Angela LaMar.  May they rest in peace.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mom’s team of doctors, nurses and staff at Genesis Cancer Center, especially the staff in the Infusion Center. We also want to thank the hospice staff who helped during her final days.
