Guanbiao G. Zhang

Guanbiao G. Zhang, 61, of Bettendorf, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City surrounded by his family and members of church.

Funeral services to celebrate Guanbiao’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The service will be livestreamed by visiting www.hmdfuneralhome.com Burial will follow the funeral services in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. 

Guanbiao was born on November 2, 1962 in Tianjin, China to father Deqing Zhang（张德清）and mother Zhuzhen Zhang （张珠珍）. He earned his bachelor’s in engineering from the University of Tianjin in 1984 and later his Master of Engineering degree from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada in 2003.

He was united in marriage to Hua Yang on December 28, 1995 in Beijing, China. 

Guanbiao worked as a quality engineer at Sears Manufacturing Company for 13 years and previously worked for Kohler Company for 3 years.

Guanbiao enjoys spending spare time with his family as well as engaging in outdoor activities (running, hiking, fishing, and playing tennis), attending church services at the Quad Cities Chinese Christian Church, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes/Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his wife, Hua Yang; son, Shao Yang Zhang, all of Bettendorf, and a sister – Shue Zhang （张淑娥）and three brothers – Guanliang Zhang （张关良）; Guanhua Zhang（张关华）; Guanxin Zhang（张关新）, all of China. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Memorials may be made to the Quad City Chinese Christian Church.
