Greg Losasso

Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Gregory S. Losasso, 62, a resident of Davenport will be Friday, December 15, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 18th Street, Bettendorf. The family will greet friends Thursday, December 14, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. to give family and friends a time to share Greg’s life stories. Per his wish, cremation rites will occur following the visitation. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Gregory passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, surrounded by his loving family.

Gregory Stephen Losasso was born April 1, 1955, in Davenport, a son of Dr. David A. and Jacqueline V. (Tunnicliff) Losasso. He was a 1973 graduate of Assumption High School Greg received a BS degree from Drake University and an MBA from St. Ambrose University. He married Angela Gerwe on June 23, 1979. He later married Anne Tomson Oakes on April 9, 1994 in Davenport.

Greg started his career at Mercy Hospital, Davenport, and continued on at Genesis Medical Center as Vice President of Clinical Services. In 2004 he became Vice President of Clinical Services at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, IN. In 2006 he became Vice President and then in 2011 he became President of Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, IN. While President of EGH, Greg was instrumental in creating Honoring Choices Indiana-North Central, a community group for end-of-life discussions. Greg retired in 2016. He was a member of the Davenport Country Club and the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club. Greg was a life-long fan of Iowa football and an avid golfer. But his greatest joy in life was spending time with his 10 grandchildren. He will be missed as the family celebrates his favorite holiday, Christmas.

Memorials may be made to Central High School Blue Devils Foundation, Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Those left to honor Greg’s memory include his wife, Anne; children, Michael (Lexi) Losasso, Arlington, VA, Stephen Losasso, Virginia Beach, VA, Jack (Amanda) Losasso, Davenport, John (Anne) Oakes, Davenport, Sarah (Peter) Lynch, Wildwood, MO, and Pat (Anne) Oakes, Westminster, CO; grandchildren, Nate, Emme, Ryan and Drew Oakes, Kate, Ben and Derrick Lynch, Aiden and Grayson Losasso, and Vivian Oakes; siblings, Cathy (Bob) Means, Shaker Heights, OH, Cris Wendling, Mary Beth (Mike) Chupka, all of Davenport, Gina Takacs, Bettendorf, Anthony (Gail) Losasso, East Moline, Bob (Dena) Losasso, Overland Park, KS, Thomas (Julie) Losasso, Davenport, Jim (Julie) Losasso, Glen Ellyn, IL, and Steve (Lisa) Losasso, Bozeman, MT; sister in law, Cyndy Losasso, Davenport; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. David and Jackie Losasso and a brother, David Losasso. May they rest in peace.
