Davenport

Geraldine “Gerry” Manley, 92, of Davenport, went home to her Lord on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Davenport Lutheran Home, with her family by her side. Services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 13, 2025 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-6 pm Thursday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Geraldine Catherine Kerkhoven was born May 17, 1933, in Chicago, to Peter and Elizabeth (Beemster) Kerkhoven. Her family lived in Chicago, Tennessee, and Ohio, before finally moving to Davenport. She attended St. Paul’s Catholic Church/ School and Immaculate Conception Academy. Gerry married Donald Leo Manley on September 2, 1950. She was a parishioner at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for 74 years. Together Gerry and Don raised 13 children and lived in the West End of Davenport.

Gerry and Don participated in many functions at St. Alphonsus. In the 1980s Gerry worked in food service for the Davenport Community Schools at Smart Jr High and West High School. She enjoyed many years at their cabin on Lake Delhi with family and friends. Don and Gerry wintered in Largo, FL for 21 years where they enjoyed attending festivals and concerts. She loved playing cards with her card club friends for over 20 years.

Surviving are her children (in order); Don (Karen) Manley, Davenport, Karen (Steve) Wolfe of LeClaire, Iowa, Mary (Dave) Eshelman of Bettendorf, Therese Kuriger of Blue Grass, Paul (Kristi) Manley of Davenport, Brian Manley of La Vergne, TN, Ellen Braddock, John Manley all of Davenport, Matt (Deb) Manley of Richfield, MN, and Greg (Tina) Manley of Davenport; 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; son-in-law, Dennis Clark (Jo Anne Manley Clark) of Muscatine; daughter-in-law Tracy (Larry) Manley of Davenport; brother Thomas Kerkhoven of Davenport; sister Betty Hayes of Cazenovia, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Don (2016), sisters Margaret Reidy-Smith, Mary Jacobs, Helen Kellner, Joan Grantham, brother Bob Kerkhoven, daughter and eldest child, Jo Anne Manley Clark (2014), sons Robert (2022) and Larry (2022), grandsons Nate Wolfe (2018) and Logan Manley (2013), and sons-in-law Keith Kuriger (2009) and Paul Braddock (2025).

Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Davenport Lutheran Home for the compassionate care given to Gerry.
