Gerald Matthew Tobin, 52, a resident of Long Grove, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, at the church, with additional visitation on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for an educational fund for his children. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerry was born December 28, 1973, in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Matt and Inez (Gluesing) Tobin. He graduated from North Scott High School in 1992. On September 3, 2011, he was united in marriage to Linsey Moffit in LeClaire, Iowa.

Jerry lived life with a big heart, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering love for his family. He spent many years working alongside his brother at Tobin Brothers Construction before returning to his true passion—farming the family homestead. Above all else, Jerry was a devoted father. Tate, Emery, and Gannon were the center of his world, and there was nowhere he'd rather be than cheering them on at their activities, riding around the farm in the side by side, and making memories together. Jerry was the person everyone could count on—the first to lend a hand, offer advice, or simply show up when he was needed. His genuine kindness, easy smile, and ability to make anyone feel like a friend meant he never met a stranger. When he wasn't farming or spending time with those he loved, Jerry enjoyed golfing, hunting, and making the most of every moment with his many friends.

Those left to honor his life are Linsey, his children: Tate Moffit, Emery and Gannon Tobin; his mother, Inez Tobin of Eldridge; his sisters, Dawn (Chris) Hinrichs of DeWitt and Karen (Jay) Lorenzen of Polk City; his brothers, Brian Tobin of Eldridge and Josh (Kelli) Tobin of Davenport; his nephews, Connell (Alyssa) Lorenzen and Drew Lorenzen, also-in-laws: Tom and Nancee Moffit of LeClaire; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Matt Tobin, and his grandparents.
