Galene “Jean” Clark, 89, of Davenport, passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2026 at MercyOne Genesis Medical Center, East Campus.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Family will greet friends from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Doctors Without Borders.
Jean was born on June 17, 1936 in Meyer, Iowa, a daughter of Gilbert and Marie (Heimer) Blake.
Jean graduated from Visitation High School in Stacyville, Iowa, class of 1954. She was the first female bus driver for the City of Davenport and drove for them for over 25 years. Jean served as President of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 312 for several years. She was a kind and generous lady giving to many charities. Jean had a green thumb. She loved planting and gardening, and canning. She also enjoyed fishing and camping. One of her favorite pastimes was crossword puzzles and she rarely missed competing in the weekly Bonanza Bill. She will be deeply missed.
Those left to honor her memory include her children Gary Strein, Valerie Book, and Kellie (Paul) Lyons; grandchildren Kelsey and Taylor Brown, Kourtney Lyons, Jacob Lyons, Antonio Jose and Valerie McCurdy Palmer and Kelly Dingler; 3 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister Marlene Bender, of Tucson, Arizona; brother Dan (Jean) Blake, Clear Lake, Iowa; nieces Kimberly Wells and Laurie Blake Deuschle; and nephew Curtis Blake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Joyce Kohl and Elaine Blake, daughter Dawn Blake Hudson, and nephews Sean and Brett Bender.
