Frederick L. McKee

Frederick “Fred” L. McKee, 87, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Harmony Davenport.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 5, 2023 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.  Memorials may be made to TACTF.org (Teach A Child To Fish).

Fred was born on April 4, 1936 in Ravenna, Michigan, son of Terry and Edna McKee.  He was united in marriage to Judy Sayers on June 22, 1963.  She preceded him in death.

Fred was a US Marine Veteran serving from 1954-1957 where he mostly served in Korea.  He was employed by Alcoa with 35 years of service.  After his time with Alcoa, Fred spent 15 years with Mancomm giving OSHA seminars.  He found joy in crossword puzzles, reading, golf and singing (even if it meant embarrassing his daughter).  His biggest joy was fishing.  He loved fly fishing,  would make his own lures and enjoyed fly tying.  He was known to meet new people and take them on charter fishing trips to Michigan. 

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Michele Stroyan; grandchildren, Aubrey Marshall and Jacob Stroyan; niece Peggi Roberts and many other family members. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Judy and siblings, Judith, Patricia, Bob, Terry, Eleanor, Frank, Bill, Merrie Sue, Bonnie and an infant sister.
