Florence Lorentzen

May 30, 1945 — November 10, 2025

Davenport

Florence “Flo” Lorentzen, 80, of Davenport, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at her home. Per her request, cremation has been accorded, and a celebration of her life will be held at later date. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, assisted the family.

Florence Ann Barnett was born May 30, 1945, in Davenport, to Hugh and Florence (Pruin) Barnett. She graduated from Davenport Central High School where she met her future husband Thomas “Tom” Lorentzen Jr. They were united in marriage on June 11, 1965, in Davenport, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. Flo worked alongside Tom at their family owned gas station as they raised their family. She later went to work at Davenport Bank which she really enjoyed and eventually retired from RMB Medicaid Services.

Flo was a woman of many talents and endless warmth. She was gifted in art and knitting, often creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and care. When she wasn’t creating something beautiful, she could be found playing cards, games, bowling, throwing darts, or out on the dance floor. She loved to have fun and could turn just about anything into a good time.

A lover of good stories, she enjoyed reading historical romances and watching her favorite DVDs, and she never met a stranger. Whether you’d known her for years or just a few minutes, she had a way of making you feel welcome. She had a fun sense of humor and delighted in giving gag gifts.

Flo loved her dogs, her grandchildren, her children and her husband, dearly, in that order, as she liked to joke. Family meant everything to her, and she filled their lives with warmth, laughter, and love.

She’ll be missed deeply by everyone lucky enough to know her, but she leaves behind a lifetime of good memories, shared smiles, and laughter that will echo for a long time to come.

Survivors include her husband of over 60 years, Tom; son Shane (Christina) Lorentzen of Davenport; daughter Tracy (Mitch) Lorentzen-Hein of Minneapolis; grandchildren Matthew Lorentzen, Cody Lorentzen, Dr. Nicholas (Dr. Maria Cleveland) Hein, Quintin Hein; sister Sandy Fisher of Davenport; and her dog “Murphy”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jessie Paulsen and Sally Smith, and brothers Jerry and Gene Barnett.
