Everett E. "Duke" Tyler

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Everett E. “Duke” Tyler, 89, of Davenport, will be 12 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 10 until 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Duke died Monday, October 31, 2022 at Genesis East, Davenport following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Everett Earl Tyler was born on February 10, 1933 in Albany, Illinois, a son of William and Ella (Snodgrass) Tyler.  He graduated from Davenport High School in 1951.  He was united in marriage to Katherine Thomas on July 18, 1951 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.  Kathy preceded him in death on February 16, 2000.

Duke worked for American Air Filter for 37 ½ years until they closed in 1985 when he went to work for A.C. Duke and Sons for the last decade of his career.

He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge.  Duke loved polka music, fishing, traveling, and hunting, especially for pheasant and mushrooms!  Duke had a great sense of humor and was a lot of fun, enjoying teasing family and friends.  He also enjoyed his Sunday breakfasts at Harlans.

Survivors include his children and their spouses: Mary Henry, Davenport, Judy (Mark) Stevens, Eldridge, and John (Penny) Tyler; son-in-law, Bob Judge, all of Davenport, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Judge, a son-in-law, Dan Henry, a special friend, Janice Goldermann, his parents, and siblings: Kenneth and Louis Tyler, Fern Vershaw, Roewna Ryan, Nellie Simmons, Jack, Bill, and Ted Fuller.
