Funeral services to celebrate the life of Eugene H. ”Bones” Koehler, 73, a resident of Davenport will be 10:00 a.m. Friday March 9, 2018 at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 N. Main St, Davenport. Burial will take place in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, with military honors. His family will greet friends Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. Bones passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 2, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Memorials may be made to his family.

Eugene Herbert Koehler was born on March 10, 1944 in Davenport, a son of Hans and Essie (Ballard) Koehler. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, completing two tours during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Mary Askam on November 23, 1996 in Davenport. Bones had worked at MidAmerican Energy before retiring in 2012 after 49 years of service. He was Manager at the Davenport Elk’s Club 298. Bones was proud of his service in the Army and belonged to many organizations including the Durant American Legion, Davenport Masonic Lodge and was past president and Monarch of the Mohassan Grotto. He was also an avid bowler participating in the National Bowling Tournament for 26 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary and his three daughters; Amy (Patrick) McConohy, Davenport, Lisa (Brad) Loveless, Rock Island and Lori (Rob) Roseman, Jr., Davenport; six grandchildren; Kylie, Katie, Carter, Karley, Maxwell and Blake; and his dog, Bella; a brother, Ken (Rita) Koehler, Sr., Bettendorf; his nephews and a niece; Ken (Kala) Koehler, Jr., Davenport, Kathy Beard, Cedar Rapids and Chris (Brien) Burke, Toddville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
