Elijah L. Shewmake

Elijah L. Shewmake, 19, of Davenport, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in Davenport.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Elijah Logan Shewmake was born on October 4, 2005 in Iowa City, Iowa, with his twin brother, Travis Shewmake. He was raised by his mother Becky Shewmake and her significant other, Brandon Kanakares until her untimely passing in 2018. He then was adopted by his loving aunt and uncle, Khristi and Mitch Moore. Also playing a huge role in his life was Mrs. Wise, his interpreter.

Elijah loved to tinker and take things apart to make them better. He had a mechanical mind and busy hands! He enjoyed having a good time with family and friends and didn’t miss an opportunity to party!

Those left to honor his memory are his adopted mom and dad, Khristi and Mitch Moore, sister, Zoey Kanakares and her dad, Brandon Kanakares other siblings: Travis Shewmake (Hallie), Trevor Moore, Josie Moore, and Natalyn Rhoades (Derrick); nieces: Lilah, Lily Rhoades, De’Reah, Willow Jo, and Serenity Sue Moore; grandparents: Theresa Baustian and Aaron Currens, Gwendolyn Burris, Miss Ollie and Tom and Ardie Kanakares; and many aunts uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Becky Shewmake.
