Elijah L. Shewmake

Elijah L. Shewmake, 19, of Davenport, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in Davenport.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Elijah Logan Shewmake was born on October 4, 2005 in Iowa City, Iowa, a son of Becky Shewmake. He was lovingly adopted and raised by Khristinna Shewmake Moore. Brandon Kanakares played a large role in his life as a father figure. Elijah was a graduate of North Scott High School in 2024. He had participated in the apprentice program at John Deere.

Elijah enjoyed having a good time with his family and friends, not missing an opportunity to party. He had a knack for taking things apart and trying to build bigger or better, but most times would leave behind a pile of parts.

Those left to honor his memory are his adopted mom and dad, Khristi (Mitchell) Moore,  Brandon Kanakares; siblings: Travis (Hallie) Shewmake, Zoey Kanakares, Trevor Moore, Josie Moore, and Natalyn Rhoades; nieces: Lilah, Lily Rhoades, De’Reah, Willow Jo, and Serenity Sue Moore; grandparents: Theresa (Aaron Currens) Baustian, Gwendolyn Burris, and Miss Ollie; uncles and aunts, Shawn Shewmake, D.J. Thorpe, JonJon Thorpe, Demond Thorpe, Shea Merrian, and Brandi Smithson; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Becky Shewmake.
