Eileen M. DePauw, 81, of Davenport, died Friday, August 30, 2024 at Genesis East, Davenport surrounded by her family.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division Street, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday in the gathering space at church. Keeping with Eileen’s wishes, she donated her body as an anatomical gift to the University of Iowa for research purposes. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee at a later date. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Eileen Marilou Madsen was born on September 26, 1942 in Urbana, Illinois, a daughter of H. Warren and Genevieve (Elliott) Madsen. She married William C. DePauw on November 24, 1976. They later separated but remained friends. Eileen was a nursing assistant for many years.
Eileen held many positions in the workforce for many years, however her priority remained on her family. Her favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren, enjoying every moment as their Nana.
Those left to honor his memory are her children: Matthew (Jolene) DePauw, Golden Valley, Minnesota, Michael (Kerstin) DePauw, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Amy (Joe) DePauw, Farmington, Maine, Angela (Patrick) Kelley, Gilbert, Arizona, Craig DePauw, Rock Island, and Andrea (Doug) Stalder, Durant; daughter-in-law, Catherine Rinaldo, San Diego, California; son-in-law, Josh Yearout, Riverview, Florida; twenty-seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings: David Madsen, Minnesota, Tom Madsen, Illinois, and Lori (Bill) Christensen, Kewanee, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews.
Eileen was preceded in death by her sons: Mark DePauw and Chad Townsend, her parents, and a brother, Terry Madsen.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the care and condolences they have received during her extended fight with Dementia and throughout the rest of her days. They kindly request donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Eileen's cherished memory.
As we remember Eileen, we take heart that she brought great joy, raised the brood well and she deserves her rest.
