Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Schebler will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Cavalry Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport. Memorials may be made to Empowering Abilities (formerly Handicapped Development Center), Holy Family Parish, or Assumption High School.
Edward Anthony Schebler was born on February 20, 1931, in Davenport, a son of Edward Aloysius and Clara Agnes (Otten) Schebler. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and St. Ambrose Academy in 1949. Ed proudly served our country in the Air Force primarily stationed in Spokane, Washington.
In 1949, Eddie went to work at the Schebler Company and was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Union, Local 91. He retired in 1993 but continued paying union dues!
Ed was united in marriage to Roberta Louise “Bobbie” Otto on June 27, 1959, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. They have shared over 67 years of marriage together.
Eddie was a member of Holy Family Parish since he was 14 years old, and also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Davenport Breakfast Lions Club.
Ed was an incredibly kind and gentle man with the patience of a saint. A true jack-of-all-trades, there was very little he couldn't fix. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, a pastime that became a cherished family tradition. For 30 years, the Scheblers spent their summers traveling to Minnesota with their dear friends, John and Helen Morrissey, enjoying fishing trips and many memories.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Bobbie, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony (Julie) Schebler, Casper, Wyoming and Bill (Lisa) Schebler, Davenport; grandchildren: Michelle (Joe) Polzer, Casper, Wyoming, Michael (Ambria) Schebler, Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Nick (Loren) Schebler, Austin, Texas, and Tom (Chloe) Schebler, Davenport; great-grandchildren: Johnathan, Colten, Rachel, Harper, Isla, Tilly, and Henry Edward; a brother, Tom Schebler, Davenport, and many adoring nieces and nephews including Nancy and Richard who were an incredible help during Ed’s final journey.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Marie Brus, John, Joseph, Richard, Robert, Jerome, Charles Schebler, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Mildred Otto, and a brother-in-law, Jack Otto. May they all rest in God’s eternal peace.
The Schebler family would like to thank everyone at Ridgecrest Village and Moments Hospice for the compassionate care given to Ed.
