Doug Paup

Douglas E. Paup, 75, of Davenport, died Friday, October 27, 2023 at Genesis East, Davenport.

Memorial services to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  The family will greet friends and family from 4 until 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Keeping with Doug’s wishes, cremation rites have taken place.  Memorials may be made to the  Izaak Walton League.

Douglas Earl Paup was born on June 4, 1948 in Carroll, Iowa, a son of Gene and Virginia (Kline) Paup.  Doug proudly served our country in the Army.  He was united in marriage to Deborah A. Manders on June 24, 1972 at West Des Moines Methodist Church.

Doug worked for Wheeler Consolidated as the truss plant manager, retiring after 30 years.  He then went to work for Engineered Building Design out of Washington, Iowa.  More recently, Doug worked at Total Detailing in Bettendorf and really loved that job.

Doug cherished his grandchildren.  He spent many hours enjoying mowing Bo’s Hill Farm, south of Indianola, and fishing especially with his buddies, Tom, J.R., A.J., Buzzy, Dan, and Marty.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie, Davenport; children: Amy (Jason) Paup Mitchell, Indianola, Jason (Kelly) Paup, Davenport; grandchildren: Matthew, Nathan, Ella, Nate, Mike (Breana), Matt, and Molly; a great-granddaughter, Lola; brother, Denny (Mary) Paup, Carroll, Iowa; Debbie’s siblings: Pam (Larry) Bailiff, Karen Kiene, Chuck (Janet) Manders, and Marcia (Terry) Frahm, and many nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jeff.
