Dorothy Lea Schons was born January 7, 1946, in Waterloo, to Bernard and Margaret (Bauler) Schons. She married her high school sweetheart, John Weber, on September 9, 1967, in Eagle Center, IA.

Dotty earned her degree in business from St. Ambrose College. Prior to her retirement she had been a realtor for Mel Foster.

Her faith was her foundation. She was proud of her Catholic faith and tradition. She lived her faith. She was a lector at Lourdes and actively supported her husband John on his path to becoming a deacon and after he was ordained. She was actively involved in Christian Experience Weekend for many years. She loved playing cards, reading, Iowa Women’s Basketball, and the outdoors, especially cycling and hiking. Her cycling took her across Iowa five times with RAGBRAI as well as a bike trip to the former USSR in 1989. Dotty loved to hike, especially in National Parks and in the St. George, Utah area. Dotty loved to travel and had visited 25 National Parks. Dotty was a master gardener, a great homemaker and cook who loved to entertain family and friends. She was talented at quilting and crocheting and made many treasured keepsakes. Dotty loved to watch Jeopardy. If you were in need, she was quick to lend a helping hand, an ear to listen, or a shoulder to lean on. Sometimes she even brought wine. She loved her children very much and was so fond of her grandchild Hana. Dotty cherished all her friends very much.

Survivors include her husband John; daughter Amy Weber of Ft. Collins, CO; sons Andy (Joanna) Weber of Portland, OR, David Weber of Jackson, WY; granddaughter Hana Weber; sister Carolyn (John) Becker of Jesup, IA, Elaine (Rick) Tracy of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; sisters in law Dianne Schons of North Liberty, IA, and JoAnn Schons of Waterloo.
