Dorothy Ann Collier

Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorothy Ann Collier, 98, of Walcott, and formerly of Davenport will be 11:00am. Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends Thursday from 10-11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Mrs. Collier passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Courtyard Estates, Walcott. 

Dorothy was born August 18, 1924, to Edward and Elsie (Moses) Spengler in Bennett, Iowa. In 1942 she moved to Davenport to work at the Rock Island Arsenal. She met her future husband Jess Collier, at the roller-skating rink and they were united in marriage on April 3, 1943, in Lancaster, MO.  Jess served in the Navy during WWII, so she would travel to meet him whenever he was in port. Jess passed away in 2007 after 64 years of marriage.

Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress whose skills were unmatched often producing items without a pattern.

Her greatest love was her children, Diane Clark, Robert (Ingrid) Collier, Linda Sunderbruch as well as her 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Wilma Edler, Evelyn Edler, Betty Huntley, brothers Duane and Ed Jr, and sons in law Kit Clark and John Sunderbruch.
