Dora Garcia

Dora M. Garcia, 91, of Davenport, died Friday, September 2, 2022 at her home surrounded by family.  Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.  The Mass will be livestreamed by visiting St. Anthony Livestream Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  There will be a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.

Dora Montoya was born on August 24, 1931 in San Isidro, Texas, a daughter of Pedro and Santos (Longoria) Montoya.  She was united in marriage to Manuel Garcia.  He preceded her in death on March 18, 1978.

Dora was a excellent caregiver with a special devotion to the elderly.  She was a woman of deep faith and adored her family.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children: Andrew Garcia, Wichita, Kansas, Manuel (Phyllis) Garcia, Jr., and Mary (Rolando) Gonzalez, Davenport; 29 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a brother, Tico Montoya, Mission, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Dora was preceded in death by her children, Armando and Elva Garcia; her parents and siblings: sisters Bertha Herrera, Emma Requenez; brothers Eulogio Montoya and Eustorgio Montoya.  May they rest in peace.
