Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Donna (Herbers) Schwab, 92, of Davenport, will be held at Noon, Thursday, July 20, 2023, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Private burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am until time of services at the church with a Rosary offered at 11:30am. Memorials may be made to Handicapped Development Center or the Church.
Donna passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Kahl Home.
Donna Jean Alig was born August 4, 1930, in Whittemore, IA, a daughter of Conrad and Genevieve “Jane” (Elbert) Alig. She was united in marriage to Merle Herbers on June 26, 1950 and he preceded her in death on August 8, 1979. She married Richard “Dick” Schwab on July 26, 1985 and he preceded her on May 11, 1998.
Donna had been personal secretary for “Happy Joe” Whitty prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Catholic Service Board, HDC Booster Club, and enjoyed playing Bridge, Kings on the Corner, and games with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children Susan Meenan, Davenport, Linda (Bob) Brice, Urbandale, Mary (Larry) Lucas, Davenport, Stephen (Debi) Herbers, Blue Grass, Nancy (Patrick) Geisendorfer, Rothschild, WI, John (Lori) Herbers, Oklahoma City, Leanne (Dave) Gaul, Monticello, IA, Connie Carroll, Vista, CA; stepchildren Theresa Orgler, Chicago, Thomas (Jeanne) Schwab, Bettendorf, Anne Marie (Bill) Matthei, Chicago, Mary Schwab, Milwaukee; 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister Mary Conrad, Lake City, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands Merle and Dick, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Carol Herbers, grandson Patrick Meenan, brother Leland Alig, sisters Genevieve Lee, Freda Mae Wiedman, Mayme Ann Reinart, Emelene John, Irene Alig, Aurellia Besch, and Carmella Graham.
