Donna Boldt - Self

Donna J. Boldt Self, 89, of Gardner, Kansas, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.

Donna Jeanne Scannell was born January 14, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa, to Lawrence Scannell Sr. and Dessie Baker Scannell. She married Harold Boldt in 1954, and together they shared 29 years and raised their family.

A lifelong Catholic, Donna was devoted to her faith and community, singing in church choirs and serving in numerous service organizations throughout her life.

She lived in Des Moines, Ottumwa, and Clinton, Iowa; Orlando, Florida; and spent her final 21 years in Roseville, California, before moving to Gardner, Kansas, in May 2025, where she resided at Homestead Assisted Living.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Scannell Sr. and Dessie Baker Scannell; her siblings, Lawrence Scannell Jr. and Betty Rossmiller; and her children, Thomas A. Boldt and John L. Boldt.

Donna is survived by her brother Robert Scannell (Rita) of Brooksville, Florida, her children: Nancy Salm (David) of Dayton, Nevada, Elizabeth Murphy of Modesto, California, and James Boldt (Kathleen O’Malley-Boldt) of Olathe, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Davenport, on July 10, 2026, with a visitation at 9:00, and Mass at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Davenport. following her Memorial Mass. A luncheon will follow the interment service and will be held at Tanglewood Hills, located at 4250 Middle Rd, Bettendorf, Iowa.
