Donald L. Logsdon

Donald Lee Logsdon was born the ninth of ten children to William “Gabe” and Nora (Uhlmeyer) Logsdon in St. Patrick, Missouri. He was educated in the St. Patrick schools. Later he attended St Ambrose College, and graduated from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, followed by a master's from the University of Iowa in civil engineering/structures.

Don was united in marriage to Wanda Wheeler on December 26, 1959 in St. Patrick. He started carrying her books from the bus in primary school, which was a good thing considering by the time he graduated from high school, three of the four girls in his class were his first cousins. Don and Wanda raised five children in Davenport, Iowa.

Don had a loving family, many friends, and loved living in the Midwest. After he retired from the Corps of Engineers, he continued to work as a Professional Engineer, assisting many with their small projects throughout the Midwest. He even renewed his PE licenses for another two years, 2025 and 2026, but sadly wrapped up his last project in December 2024.

Don was an avid outdoorsman his entire life, passing that love on to his children, and sharing it with family and friends over the years. He had great reverence for the Constitution, and the freedoms of this nation. He was born into a Roman Catholic family and remained one throughout his life.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Wanda of 65 years, his children: Andrew (Julie), Matthew (Judith), Paula, Stephen, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and his younger brother, Steven (Georgia). His son, Gregory, parents, eight siblings and many family and friends were waiting for him to join them in Heaven.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Don will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 417 N. Main Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 until 5 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 N. Main Street, Davenport, with a prayer service and time of sharing at 4:30 p.m.  There will be additional visitation Monday from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the Parish Center at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. There will be a Memorial Mass celebrated for Don at the Shrine of St. Patrick in St. Patrick, Missouri in June.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Cemetery (St. Patrick, Missouri) on behalf of Donald Logsdon and his son, Greg.
