Donald “Don” Graves, 70, of Bettendorf, IA, and formerly of Galesburg, and Macomb, IL, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis in Davenport. The rite of cremation will be accorded, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, assisted the family. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
Donald Eugene Graves was born August 21, 1955, in Topeka, KS, where his father was stationed in the Air Force. Don was the first of the four sons born to Floyd “Gene” and Marna (Davis) Graves. The family moved to Macomb and that is where he was raised and graduated from Macomb High School class of 1973.
He worked for many years at Maytag in Galesburg as an assembler and forklift operator until it closed.
Don was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved going to rock concerts. The concerts were made more meaningful when shared with his nephew Chad. They created lasting memories together filled with laughter, music and connection. In his younger years, he was active in men’s slow pitch softball.
Survivors include his son Tyson Graves of Galesburg; brothers Russell (Robin) Graves of Clinton, IL, Larry (Marcia) Graves of St. Augustine, IL, Tim (Monalisa) Graves of La Harpe, IL; aunt Diane Elliott; many nieces and nephews; several cousins; and longtime friend Steve Milkovich of Bettendorf.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Charity Smith, son Christopher Lindsey, and parents.
