Donald "Duck" Childers

Donald "Duck" Childers, 78, of Davenport, passed away, Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery, in Buffalo. Memorials may be made to the family.

Donald was born on April 13, 1947 in Davenport, a son of Glenn and Marie Childers.

Donald had a great sense of humor, was a prankster, and had an infectious laugh that will be deeply missed. He was a self-taught mechanic, and spent many hours working cars and trucks. He found joy in cooking, canning and having a cold beer in his hand. Despite his poor eyesight as a result of childhood measles, he was a fantastic mushroom hunter, collecting an absurd amount of mushrooms each spring. One of Donald's favorite foods was fried chicken, and he would frequently send family members to KFC for him when he became unable to do so for himself.

Those left to honor his memory include his siblings Jerry (Nancy Fithian) Childers, Sharon (Geoff) Myers, Randy (Marge) Childers, and Steve Childers, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents,Glenn and Marie, and siblings, Bob and Dennis Childers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
