Diane Sehmann, 74, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024 at her home. In following Diane’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries in Davenport, on April 8, 2024 from 11 am -12 pm with a memorial service immediately following.
Diane was born in Davenport, on August 22, 1949, the middle of three daughters to Glen and Eleanore (Leidenfrost) Herrman. She graduated from Davenport Central High school in 1967 and shortly after met the love of her life, Randy Sehmann. Randy and Diane were married on August 30, 1969 at Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport. They were blessed with four children and shared nearly 55 years together. For the last several years as Diane’s Alzheimer’s progressed, Randy was her sole caregiver, providing a loving routine for her which allowed her to stay at home.
Diane worked as a hairdresser at Margaret’s Beauty Salon until she had children and became a stay-at-home mom. She continued to keep her family members cut and styled for many years out of her home. While her children were in school, Diane was a room mother and made elaborate treats for holiday parties. She was an avid photographer and was never without her camera. She has captured numerous special moments over the years that her family and friends will cherish always. Once her children were a little older, she became a cashier at Jewel-Osco, retiring in 2012 after 25 years.
Diane was the biggest fan to her children and later her grandchildren. Never missing one of their sporting events, grandparent’s day, or concerts if she could help it, even when it meant traveling across the country. You could always hear her cheering from the stands and see how proud she was of them. She loved being with family.
Diane was preceded in death by her sister Marla Miller, her parents, and her youngest son Corey Sehmann.
Those left to honor her memory are her devoted husband and caregiver, Randy Sehmann; her children Craig (Michelle) Sehmann, North Liberty, IA, Christopher Sehmann, Carbon Cliff, IL, and Carey (Steven) Brewer, Oak Ridge, NC; her sister Juli (Mark) Fritz; sisters and brothers-in-law Bettie (Dic) Stillwagon, Roland (Brenda) Sehmann, Lonny (Rusty) Sehmann and Gary Sehmann; her beloved grandchildren Hailey, Grant, Heidi, Blake and Ethan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
