Obituary

Dennis "Denny" Lee Miller, 82, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on August 16, 2026, with his beloved wife, Shell, by his side.

Born on July 8, 1944, Denny was the son of Dwight and Maxine (Higley) Miller. He grew up in Hanover, Illinois, and answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force immediately following his high school graduation. After completing his military service, Denny pursued college coursework and built a career as a draftsman. His keen eye and technical skill eventually led him to a career as a photographer for John Deere's industrial training center. Later in life, he also lent his talents and warm personality to Millertime Billiards and Bowling, where he found many lifelong friends.

On September 22, 1990, Denny married the love of his life, Michelle Hoke, whom he affectionately called "Shell." Together, they built a life filled with laughter, family, and shared passions.

Denny was a man of diverse interests and boundless energy. He was a passionate car enthusiast who loved muscle cars, race cars, and show cars alike, and was a proud member of the Quad City Cruisers. Denny could often be found golfing or bowling. He had a deep appreciation for nature and animals, spending quiet moments feeding the squirrels, watching birds, and caring for his own cherished cats and dog.

Above all, Denny adored his family. He treasured every moment spent visiting his daughters, son, grandchildren, and extended family, fully embracing and celebrating his favorite role as "Grandpa." Denny was a large and unforgettable presence in the lives of many. Known for his relentless spirit, he loved to joke around, sing karaoke, play pool, and bowl.

Denny is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle; his children, Jodi Schoenhardt (John), Sherri Plum, Editt "ED" Bodde (James), Jordan Miller, and Breanna Miller; his seven grandchildren, AJ, Christian, Hailey, Cheyenne, Peyton, Clara, and Marshall; his sister, Susie Kolcinski; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Maxine, and his siblings, Austin Miller, Lynn Miller, Judi Guay, Marc Miller, and Cary Miller.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CASI (Center for Active Senior Resources) in Denny's honor.
