Debora Faye Green

Funeral services celebrating the life of Debora “Debbie” Green, 68, of Davenport, will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport. The rite of cremation will follow. The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Friday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Ms. Green passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Debora Faye Posey was born April 16, 1956, in Vero Beach, FL, a daughter of John Harrison and Beulah Belle (Williams) Posey Sr. 

She graduated from Davenport Central Class of 1974 where she was on the pom dance squad and was a cheerleader. She then went on to graduate from Simpson College.

Debbie had worked for the Rock Island Arsenal in the contract and shipment departments.

Debbie was talented in the performance arts and loved to dance, sing (soprano), play the piano, and was choir director at Progressive Baptist Church. She was a former Miss Black Teen Davenport, Miss Black Teen Iowa, and was the fifth runner up in the Miss Black Teen America pageant held in New York City. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed weekly Bible studies, cooking, and watching movies. She loved following her sons and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities and was their biggest fan. She was many things, but grandma was her favorite. 

Those left to honor her memory include her sons James (April) Green, Javon (Katie) Green, all of Davenport; grandchildren Alaysia Green, Ava Green, Jalen Green, Aidan Green, Aylah Green, Marae Benischek, Megan Benischek; mother Beulah Posey of Davenport; brother John Posey Jr of Iowa City; and sisters Regina Stokes of Davenport, and Inetta Posey of Plover, WI.

She was preceded in death by her father.
