David A. Myers

David A. Myers, 75, of Blue Grass IA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at MercyOne-Genesis Medical Center, in Davenport IA.

David Alan Myers was born on December 15, 1949 in Davenport, the son of Kennth O. and Shirley J. (Brock) Myers. David was united in marriage to Patricia A. Murphy on January 3, 1970 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Trish and Dave shared over 55 years of marriage together.

Dave took great pride in serving our country in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Durham in which time he fought during the Vietnam War. He went on to work at Eagles Warehouse, Northwest Bank & Trust, and dedicated the majority of his career to the accounting department, at Gierke Robinson, in which he would eventually retire.

Dave was a dedicated husband and father, but his eight grandchildren; Brianna, Grant, Ellie, A.J., Avery, Belle, Brigette and Preston, were his greatest joys in life. There wasn’t a room he entered that he didn’t seize the opportunity to share a story of one of his grandkids that inspired him or made him laugh so hard “it added years to his life”.

He gave his free time to coaching and refereeing youth soccer in the Quad Cities for over 30 years. He was associated with organizations such as; the YMCA, Davenport Soccer Association and Bettendorf Soccer Association. He enjoyed watching his beloved Hawkeyes on TV, mowing his yard, as well as hunting in his younger years and taking his grandchildren fishing. There wasn’t a donut shop in the quad cities that he wasn’t known for making a large dent in their inventory so the “Donut Gnome” could make his weekend deliveries to all of his grandchildren and honorable members of the community.

Those left to honor Dave’s memory are his wife, Trish, of Blue Grass IA, children; Bryan (Noelle) Myers, of Davenport, IA, Amy (Izam) Yassin, of Davenport, IA, Brock Myers, of Newark, New Jersey, and Rebecca Stewart, of Rock Island, IL. Siblings; Randy (Kathy) Myers, of Blue Grass, IA, Mark (Mary) Myers, of Bettendorf, IA. In Laws; Pam (Doug) Briggs, of Chatham, IL, Michael (Debra) Murphy, of Palm Bay, FL, Barbara Dettlaff, of Bettendorf, IA and Paul Cato, of Annapolis, MD. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, his best friends; Tom and Candy Pastrnak, of Davenport, IA, Godson; James, and his sisters Amanda and Allie Pastrnak, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Andrew Myers, sister-in-law, Susan Cato, brother-in-law Michael Dettlaff and bonus brother-in-law, Lyle Davis. May they rejoice in unity.

A celebration of Dave’s life is to be later this month. Keeping with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and Memorials may be made in his honor to the Disabled American Veterans. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
