Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 4-6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or the Quad City Morning Optimist Club.
Mr. Jorth passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, assisted the family.
David Dean Jorth was born August 12, 1947, in Milford, IA, to Arnold and Nora (Bisgaard) Jorth. He was united in marriage to Mary Lewis on June 2, 1967, in Ottumwa, and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2021.
He earned his master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Northern Iowa and began his career teaching junior high school. He later devoted 35 years to John Deere in Moline.
Dave was the nicest man you could ever hope to meet, genuine in every sense of the word, faithful in his commitments, and kind to everyone who crossed his path. Above all, he was an excellent husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his greatest pride and joy. He rarely missed a game or show, faithfully showing up not only for his children and grandchildren, but for his friends’ children and grandchildren as well. He enjoyed watching many sports and musicals and especially loved the LA Dodgers.
He was a member of the Quad City Morning Optimist Club, St. Paul Lutheran Church, and multiple card clubs.
Survivors include his children Trina (Mike) Meehan of Northfield, MN, Mack (Susie) Jorth of Pleasantville, IA, Alex (Michael Ursua) Jorth of Boynton Beach, FL; grandchildren Jack, Edie, Hannah, and Theo; siblings Bruce (Mary) Jorth of Lake Worth, FL, Betty (Arno) Neben of Papillion, NE, and June (Brent) Porter, Mesa, AZ.
Additionally, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Christen and parents.
