David Joseph Cullen

David Joseph “Dave” Cullen, 69, of LeClaire, passed away on December 26, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family or the American Cancer Society.

Dave was born on October 11, 1956, the son of Robert and Helen (Keough) Cullen. He married Mary Ann Fagan on July 1, 1978, in Cedar Rapids, and together they shared more than 45 years of marriage. Mary Ann preceded him in death on February 18, 2024.

Dave founded Cullen Electrical Service in the early 1990s and worked as an electrician his entire life, a career he took great pride in. He was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help others.

He loved being outdoors—whether taking his Boston Whaler out on the Mississippi with family and friends, enjoying a bonfire, or watching wildlife. He also loved showing up for his grandsons, cheering them on from the sidelines at games of all kinds. Time spent in Colorado held a special place in his heart.

Dave had a sharp, often dry sense of humor and a quiet way of putting things into perspective. In difficult moments, he had a way of cutting through the heaviness and helping those he loved see things more clearly.

Dave had a passion for hosting and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He was devoted to his children and cherished time spent with his grandsons.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Sarah Cullen of Bettendorf; his son, Patrick (Morgan) Cullen of LeClaire; his grandsons, Blake and Tyler; and his brother, Dan (Sue) Cullen of Wickenburg, Arizona.

In addition to his wife, Mary Ann, Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
