Daniel "Dan" Albers

December 23, 1945 — June 6, 2026

Daniel “Dan” Albers, 80, of Davenport passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

A private family burial will be held at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children or University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.

Dan was born on December 23, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Theodore and Virginia (Edwards) Albers. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Smith on June 5, 1971.

Dan was an Assumption High School graduate and a US Army Veteran. While at Assumption he excelled at football, basketball and softball. Dan participated in sports from a young age, including Little League and Pony League. He played on a softball team that ranked 2nd place in the world and played on a semi-professional football team. He worked his way from truck driver to plant manager at Midwest Metals during his employment there. After his retirement he was a paraeducator at Wilson Elementary and had such a positive impact on many children during his time there. He was a very kind man and never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Charlotte; brother Mike (Juli) Albers; and nieces Stephanie Albers-Hedrick and Dr. Alexandria Albers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim Albers.
