Craig Lester Bunge, 79, of Davenport, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 3, 2026. In keeping with Craig's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements entrusted to Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Funeral services and celebration of life will take place at 11a.m. on Friday, October 16th, 2026, at Our Lady of Victory Church, Davenport, with inurnment at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services. Luncheon to follow at the parish center after committal services. Memorials may be made to the family or your favorite charity.

Craig was born October 21, 1946, in Davenport: the 4th child of Lester Leroy and Madeleine Marie (Schmiers) Bunge. Craig graduated from Assumption High School Class of 1965. He met his future bride Gail through a blind date, set up by mutual friends, and a year later they were married. Through this union they were blessed with three sons. Craig and Gail spent 51 beautiful and wonderful years together before her passing in 2024.

Prior to and after his marriage to Gail, Craig worked at the former Virg's Skelly Service as a mechanic, then Eagle's Food Center warehouse in Milan, IL as a grocery picker, then 12 years with Caterpillar and finally retiring from Civilian Federal employment with HQ, JMC, Rock Island Arsenal as an Analyst.

Craig was an Air Force veteran and Iowa Army National Guard veteran having served 29 years, 11 months and 8 days between both branches of the military.

He enjoyed golfing, hanging out with his favorite people, and socializing with friends and staff at Ganzo’s and Bourbons.

Craig is survived by his sons Brandon (Alicia) Bunge, Coal Valley, IL; Byron (Melanie) Bunge, Bettendorf; grandson and best buddy Chase Bunge; granddaughter through marriage Haley Woolley; brother Max (Janice) Bunge, Davenport; sister Cynthia Stolley, Davenport; sister- and brother-in-law Chris and Marty Griffin, Port Byron, IL; sister-in-law Lynn Haesaert, Syracuse, NY; daughter-in-law Stacey Bunge, Moline; and many very special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Gail, Craig was preceded in death by son Brett, parents, brother Victor, father- and mother-in-law Larry and Doris Harper, and brother-in-law Marvin “Butch” Stolley.
