Charles B. McDoniel, 65, of Davenport, died Friday, July 12, 2024 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House surrounded by family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024 with a time of prayer and sharing at 6:30 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Additional visitation will be Wednesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 916 E. Rusholme Street, Davenport concluded by a prayer and luncheon to follow. Keeping with Chuck’s wishes, cremation rites will take place following services with burial at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Charles Baxter McDoniel was born on December 2, 1958 in Batesville, Arkansas, a son of Charles O. and Mattie “Pat” (Baxter) McDoniel. He worked for nineteen years at Altorfer before earning his license as a massage therapist, practicing since 2013.
Chuck was united in marriage to Mary F. Clarke on September 18, 2004 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. They have shared almost 20 years of marriage and adventures together.
Chuck had larger than life personality and would light up a room with his infectious smile and fill your heart with joy and laughter. He would do anything for anyone, almost to a fault. Chuck was devoted to Mary and although never had children, he treated and cared for his nieces and nephews like they were his own. He was an encyclopedia of movie trivia, and especially enjoyed Westerns.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Mary; mother and father, Pat and Charles McDoniel, all of Davenport; sisters: Debbie (Mike) McCollom, Omaha, Missouri and Sandy (John) Boyd, Bettendorf; brother-in-law, Pat (Kathleen) Clarke, LeClaire, and many adoring nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and three great-great nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters: Stacie McDoniel, Sue Hosseinian, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lorraine and John Clarke, a brother-in-law, Charles (Aurora Schroder) Clarke, and a nephew, Joe Clarke. May they rest in peace.
