Springfield, MO

Christine Ann (Bailey) Rettenmaier passed on June, 21, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 68.

Christine (or simply "Chris" to anyone who knew her) was born on August 17th, 1957 in Moline, Illinois, as the eldest of 3 children born to Frank and Dolores (Hebeler) Bailey. She grew up in Davenport, Iowa, where she attended school and graduated from Davenport West High in 1975.In 1977, Chris married George F. Baugh Jr. and together they shared two children, Kyle and Leah, and moved to southern Missouri.

Chris cherished her Catholic faith and had great trust in Jesus. In the working world, Chris mostly was employed as a bookkeeper, but also enjoyed opportunities to work as a supervisor in sheltered workshops and as a Special Olympics coach. Chris was a talented cook and her baked goods were often sought after by family and friends. Along with her ability to cook and bake, she enjoyed gardening, canning fruits and vegetables. Chris also enjoyed crafting and crocheting and always found time to read… which was a constant pastime throughout her life.

In 1992, Chris married her husband of 32 years, Rick Rettenmaier, and became a stepmother to Dylan Rettenmaier. Rick and Chris lived in the Davenport area for several years before moving to Missouri, where they would remain until they were each called Home to be with the Lord.

Christine is survived by her children Kyle Baugh and Leah Baugh; granddaughter Orianna Connors; stepson, Dylan Rettenmaier; grandsons Ian and Braedon Rettenmaier; siblings Mark (Jody) Bailey and Catherine (Bailey) Marxen; sister-n-law Tracy (Rettenmaier) Ripslinger and husband Joe, several aunts uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and Peanut, her 4 legged companion.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband Rick (2024); and her parents Frank (2013) and Dolores (Hebeler) Bailey (2025).

A graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal, July 30, 2026 at 10:30 am where Christine will be reunited with her husband Rick Rettenmaier, United States Army, for eternal life.
