Davenport

Christine Mitchell, 68, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2025.

Christine was born in Widener, Arkansas on April 26, 1957, to Gladys and Roosevelt Watson. She moved to Iowa in her teens and completed her education in the Davenport Community School District. She later attended Scott Community College in 2009.

She accepted Christ in 1975 and became a devoted member of Pentecostal Deliverance Church (now Harvest Time Family Worship Center) under the leadership of Apostle James E. Lee, where she served faithfully in numerous roles including Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, Treasurer, Choir Member, Vacation Bible School Teacher, just to name a few.

She married the love of her life, James L. Mitchell, on July 2, 1988. Together they built a life centered on faith and family.

Christine was known for her humor, storytelling, and generous heart. She brought joy and laughter wherever she went.

She was a talented seamstress, artist, caregiver, and so much more. Christine worked for many years at Seaford Clothing Co. She loved family. Helping raise her nieces and nephews earned her the title “Auntie Momma” for her deep care, nurturing spirit, and her hands on love.

Even in retirement, her days were filled with acts of service, caring for others, offering prayer, and showing up wherever she was needed. She was the heart of her family, a woman small in stature but mighty in love. A true definition of a GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.

She is survived by siblings, Lottie Carey and Kattie Carpenter of Rock Island, IL. Della and Rosie Watson of Davenport, Iowa. Geraldine (Kenneth) Fairfax, Beatrice (Troy) Robinson, and Raymond Watson of Des Moines, IA. Robert (Ella Mae) Watson of Forrest City, AR.

A host of nieces, nephews (1st, 2nd, and 3rd generations) and God- Children.

She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Mitchell. Her parents Roosevelt and Gladys Watson, Brothers: Vernon, James E, Melvin, Willie Gene, Roosevelt Watson, and Johnnie L. Morning. Sister Maeola Wyatt. Nephews: Vernon Watson, Tracy Bragg, and Melvin Morning.
