Owens, 72, of Davenport, formerly of Moline, IL will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park with military honors.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.   Memorials may be made to Empower House, a brain injury Clubhouse co-founded by his daughter-in-law, Mickey.

Chris died Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Trinity, Bettendorf surrounded by his family. The recent months had been very hard on Chris with loss of his daughter, Rachel. They had a strong bond, and without her to take care of, his heart was forever broken.

Chris William Owens was born on January 20, 1950, a son of Dennis “Denny” and Evelyn (Sonksen) Owens.  Chris proudly served our country in the Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a heavy equipment operator and served aboard the USS America.  He worked for many years in the sheet metal trade as part of Sheet Metal Local 91.  Chris retired in 2007

Chris was married to Tina Holder in 1968 and later married Kathie Womack in 1995.

Chris enjoyed fishing, and anything outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing with his Dad, and together they would take Jason. One of the activities he had enjoyed later in life was go Karting with Jason and his 3 grandsons! Three generations of Owens' on the track. He may not have been very fast, but he could often be found spun out in the center of the track in his bright yellow kart!

Chris is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Mickey Owens, grandchildren: Christian, Mallory, Alex, and Carter; sisters: Vyrel (Kevin) Owens-Carr and Linda (Chris) Hawker, his former wife, Kathie’s sons: Jeremy (Lindsey) Womack, Justin (Erin) Womack, and Joshua (Leanne Robb) Womack.

In addition to his daughter Rachel, Chris was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gerald, and Kathie’s son, Jared Womack.  May they rest in peace.
