Chris McMillin

Chris McMillin, 54, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026, at OSF St. Luke’s Hospital, Kewanee, IL, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. Per his request cremation has been accorded and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Christopher James McMillin was born on November 15th, 1971, in Moline, IL, to Brian and Betty (Maher) McMillin. He spent most of his childhood in Moline before moving to Rock Island. He graduated from Rock Island High School and immediately joined the work force. He spent most of his adult life in Davenport and lived in Florida for several years before moving back home. He was united in marriage to Lisa Harker.

Chris worked as a heavy equipment operator, laying asphalt on many roads we still drive on now. He would love to point out a road saying, “I paved that!” He stopped working after roughly 20 years to focus on his health. He was a member of Union Local 150.

Chris had struggled with heart failure for the past 18 years. He received a heart transplant and had two wonderful years of recovery to experience the life he fought so hard for. He loved passing the time by riding his bike, going to the beach, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. He often took solo road trips. He would find small towns and hidden treasures and was happy to share his experiences with everyone. He was a social man and loved everyone. Chris never took a moment for granted and lived everyday like it could be his last.

He is survived by his daughters Marissa (Chris Mlekush) McMillin of Moline and Tiffany McMillin of Davenport; parents Betty and Brian McMillin; grandson Jalen Mlekush of Moline, whom he was most proud of and loved dearly; and brother Matthew McMillin of Colorado. Chris had many friends he loved like brothers, he called them his brothers too, and to those that cared for him and loved him the same. Thank you!
