Chris “Cricker” Hendricks, 46, of Bettendorf, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Trinity Hospital, Bettendorf. Per his request cremation has been accorded. A celebration of his life will be held from 4-6pm on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Chris was not only an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, but a former Hawkeye Cheerleader, so please feel free to wear black and gold. Private burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family for an education fund to be established for his children.
Christopher Patrick Hendricks was born November 29, 1978, in Davenport, to Wendel “Scott” and Joan (Serrano) Hendricks. He was united in marriage to Kelly Savage on July 25, 2008, in Davenport. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Iowa and was a CPA, most recently for Deloitte.
A true outdoorsman, Chris felt at home under the open sky — whether hiking a wooded trail, pitching a tent under the stars, or cruising across the water in a boat. A grill master through and through, he brought people together with perfectly cooked meals and easy laughter.
He took great pride in maintaining his home and vehicles. His car gleamed like showroom-new and not a single blade of grass dared grow out of line in his meticulously kept yard. He also loved a good card game, especially Spades. He played not just to win, but to share laughs, friendly competition, and cherished time with those around him.
With a memory like a steel trap and a bottomless reservoir of facts, Chris was a walking encyclopedia, the go-to trivia lifeline for family game nights and bar bets alike. From history to sports stats to obscure tidbits, he always had the answer, and usually a fascinating story to go with it.
Those left to carry his memory include his children Sean Hendricks, Aaron Hendricks, and Hadley Hendricks of Bettendorf; mother Joan Gasser of Bettendorf; siblings Michael (Lori) Gasser of LeClaire, Matthew Gasser of West Des Moines, and Nicole Gasser of Bettendorf; and nieces and nephew Mikel, Layla, Preston, and Cooper.
A special heartfelt thanks from Cricker and the family to Uncle Pat, Aunt Mary, honorary brother Kyle, and all of the other family members who have supported us throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his father Scott, brother Sean Hendricks, and stepfather Tim Gasser.
