Obituary

Charlie Richard Allen Pierce ("Charlie"), age 73, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, July 8, 2026, at Genesis East Hospital in Davenport.

Born on May 24, 1953, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Charlie was a self-educated man who built a remarkable life through hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. After holding several early jobs, he settled in Davenport, where he met the love of his life, Linda Dugan. He began his career with Per Mar Security, where he performed a variety of technical roles, including climbing towers to install and maintain alarm systems and CCTV equipment.

Seeking greater independence, Charlie took a bold step by opening LRC Electronics, a small CCTV repair shop in the basement of his home in the West End of Davenport. What started as a modest operation quickly grew into the premier CCTV repair facility in the industry. Driven by his passion for innovation, he mastered system design through self-study and became a globally recognized leader in CCTV training. He founded LTC and conducted training sessions for government agencies, major corporations, and at industry conventions worldwide. A frequent world traveler, Charlie was regarded as a "rockstar" in the security industry.

His contributions extended far beyond repair and training. Charlie authored what is widely considered the definitive guide—the "bible"—of the CCTV industry. In collaboration with producer and filmmaker Phil Dingledine, he created the industry’s first professional training videos. This led to high-level consulting work with prominent organizations, including NASA, the FBI, and the Secret Service. Later, he sold LRC Electronics and served as President of IPC Technologies (a division of one of the nation’s largest security services companies), where he designed and orchestrated the world’s first complete digital security operating system.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charlie was deeply devoted to his family and community. He served as a Boy Scout leader for his sons’ troop and was a beloved and respected figure at St. Alphonsus Church and School. He generously volunteered his time helping with field trips, social events, fish fries, and fundraising activities. In 2008, he purchased a 40-acre farm on the west edge of Davenport, where he welcomed local schoolchildren for memorable field trips, pumpkin patches, tractor rides, and authentic country experiences.

Charlie had a gift for bringing joy to everyone around him. Known for his infectious smile, quick wit, hilarious accents, and warm sense of humor, he lifted up countless people throughout his life. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and approached every situation with kindness, generosity, and love.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Elizabeth Pierce; his three sons, Jeremiah Alden Pierce, Corey James Pierce, and Andrew Patrick Pierce; his sisters, Sheri Lyn Huber and Stephanie Pierce; and his grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Jase, Kaiden, Kaylie, Aiden, Liam and Ava.

Visitation will be held at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport, Iowa, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
