Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Living Communities, Davenport Campus.

Charles was born on November 3, 1931. He was united in marriage to Nancy Johnston on May 21, 1955 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport.

Charles spent his childhood at St. Vincent Academy and later graduated from St. Ambrose Academy where he was the Class President for 3 out of the 4 years. He was later in the Naval Reserves from 1950 until 1962. He was a finish carpenter by trade and retired from R.A. Lank Construction in 1996. He believed in hard work and was known for his skilled hands and ability to repair almost anything. In recent years, he especially enjoyed spending time creating diamond art. Charles loved the Scouts and was a Scout Master for Troop #241 for 10 years and received the Vigil Honor Award in the Order of the Arrow. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and Moose Lodge #28, Davenport. Charles was very passionate about football and could remember the plays from his high school and college days. During his children’s younger years, he was always at their activities to show his love and support. Charles started making chocolates for his family when his children were young and was well known for donating his candy to the Christmas Bazaar for Our Lady of Victory. Charles also enjoyed donating his homemade cookies to Clarissa Cook Hospice monthly. He never lost his sense of humor, even in hardship, and he will be remembered for his genuine warmth and tender spirit.

The family is grateful for the kindness shown by the Lutheran Staff, particularly, Linda Cagle, who became a cherished friend to Charlie.
