Charles R. Mooney “Bob”, 79, of Davenport, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Senior Star Memory Care after an extended battle with Alzheimer disease.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Family will greet friends from 9:30 am until the time of mass at church. Burial will be following mass at the Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in tribute to him.
Bob was born on July 2, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of Charles and Edna Mae (Van Cleave) Mooney. He attended the University of Iowa, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and was stationed in Korea for a year before he was honorably discharged from service in 1975. Following, he joined the Civil Service and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a Logistics Management Specialist in 2004 after 37yrs.
He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Church and served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister for many years. Bob was also an avid fan of the St.Louis Cardinals and loved playing and watching softball. He was a fan of country music, and found comfort in watching his favorite westerns. He loved this country, and he always felt a special connection to the bald eagle and what it stands for.
On September 23rd, 1967 he married Sue Henry at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, Iowa, and they shared 34 years of marriage. From this union they were blessed with three children who are left to honor his memory; Cindie Mooney, Tim (Kim) Mooney and Ann Mooney; grandchildren Kaitlin, Tyler, Noah and Zoey. He is also survived by his younger brother John (Kristy) Mooney and is preceded in death by their parents.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Genesis Hospice and Senior Star Memory Care, for their love and attention over the past 5years, who had became his extended family.
