Catherine M. "Kay" Pohlmann

Catherine M. “Kay” Pohlmann, 101, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Davenport, IA, died Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Parsons House Assisted Living in Omaha, NE.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport. The Mass will be livestreamed by visiting HOLY FAMILY Facebook Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15th with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. The family requests that those attending wear masks. In lieu of flowers, Kay requested memorials be made to Handicapped Development Center and All Saints Catholic School, both in Davenport.

Catherine M. Winters was born August 3, 1920, in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of James G. and Mabel (McAfee) Winters. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Raymond G. Pohlmann on September 1, 1941, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Rock Island, IL. They were married for 73 years.

Kay retired from Sears Roebuck. She was a member of the Horticultural Society where she served as secretary and volunteered at Duck Creek Park. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, was involved in a sewing circle for the Christmas bazaar and served as president of The Altar and Rosary Society. Kay loved gardening, dancing and her backyard birds.

Survivors include her daughters, Peg (Joe) Valenta, Arlington Heights, IL; Barb Thompson, Omaha, NE; and Helen (Marc) Bernat, Arlington Heights, IL; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; daughter, Mary Kay; her parents; brother, James G. Jr.; grandson, Joe Bernat; and son-in-law, Pat Thompson.
