Catherine Ann Aten

Catherine Ann Aten, 94, of Davenport, peacefully departed this life on June 17, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later dat.

Catherine was born on July 31, 1930 in Rock Island, Illinois the daughter of Ardy and Dorothy (Lea) Blessing. She married the love of her life, Donald Aten, on July 4, 1948 and they were blessed with five children.

Catherine proudly worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), serving with devotion at a nursing home in Milan. Her career was a testament to her character, embodying the qualities of care and empathy that her patients and colleagues cherished deeply.

A talented musician, Catherine found joy in playing the piano. She was known for her soft-spoken nature and gentle demeanor, which endeared her to everyone she encountered. In her spare time, she cherished the companionship of her beloved cat, Casper, who brought her much happiness. Catherine also enjoyed her special visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always looking forward to their Kentucky Fried Chicken Sunday Visits.

Catherine leaves behind her cherished family: her daughter, Rebecca Aten-Blessing, and her sons, Dennis (Evelyn) Aten and Rodney Aten; her 8 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She greatly treasured her close relationship with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Catherine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald, her mother Dorothy, and her late children, Cynthia Harkey and Terry Aten.
