Catalina Lopez, 101, of Davenport, passed away on February 5, 2026, in Moline, Illinois, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.
Catalina was born on November 25, 1924, in Gonzales, Texas, the daughter of Samuel Lira and Rosa Gonzalez. In 1948, she united in marriage with Martiniano Lopez. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion, raising a family that eventually grew to include five generations of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A woman of gentle strength, Catalina worked for many years at Crescent Bakery. She was the heart of her home, serving as a role model for her children through her boundless love, her joy in cooking, and the simple, quiet dignity with which she lived her life.
Her faith was her compass. Catalina was a dedicated parishioner who found peace in constant prayer and attending Mass. She was known for her "open door" spirit—always kind, always welcoming, and always ensuring those in her presence felt comfortable and loved.
Catalina leaves behind her children, Martha B. Banda of Dallas, TX, Justo Lopez of Davenport, Maria Teresa (Victor Rios) Lopez of Davenport, Manuel L (Consuelo) Lopez of Moline, Maria Socorro Zepeda of Moline, and Petra Perryman of San Antonio, TX; her daughter in law, Martha Lopez of Grand Prairie, TX; her 28 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Esther Cantu of Davenport; her sister-in-law Claudia Lira; and her many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Martiniano Lopez; her children, Jose L. Lopez, Humberto Lopez, Jesus Lopez, and Rosa Lopez; her parents, Samuel and Rosa Lira; her grandsons Jose Anthony, Salvador Zepeda, Jesus Banda, Jesus Banda, Jesus Banda; and siblings Fidencio Lira, Jesus Lira, and Lira Lira, Julia Morales, Fortunato Lira, Fansisca Arriaga, Pablo Lira, and Reyes Lira.
Catalina’s life was a beautiful testament to the power of love and family. While she will be deeply missed, her spirit remains a guiding light for all who knew her.
